Description

EM micrograph demonstrating the colocalization of GABA neurotransmitter (30 nm gold) and delta 1/2 glutamate receptors (10 nm gold) in the cerebellar cortex molecular layer at P10. It shows Delta labeling (arrowheads) is abundant at the postsynaptic membrane of parallel fiber (pf) /Purkinje cell spine synapses. These postsynaptic spines are filled with GABA neurotransmitter (Purkinje neurons are GABAergic). Scale bar is 500 nm. Gold particles have been highlighted using Adobe Photoshop. The figure is modified from figure 4a in Zhao et al., J. Neurosci. 18:5517-28, 1998.
