Description

High resolution image of elements of myonemal fibers which lie next to the epiplasm that lies internal to the plasma membrane and alveoli. A close association of the ER with the myonemes is seen. The cytosol is filled with ribosomes, peroxisomes, and mitochondria. The ER next to the oral region provides a site for formation of elements of the Golgi complex. TEM taken on 6/11/69 by R. Allen with Philips 300 operating at 60KV. Neg. 14,800X. The raw film was scanned with an Epson Perfection V750 Pro. This image is best used for quantitative analysis. Standard glutaraldehyde fixation followed by osmium tetroxide, dehydrated in alcohol and embedded in an epoxy resin. Microtome sections prepared at approximately 75nm thickness.
