Description

The ER tubules in the spasmoneme bear elements of the linkage complex, both the mid piece and rails. These elements are more disperse than in the body of the cell. The fibers from the mid piece pass into the basal bodies of the stalk. TEM taken on 4/9/71 by R. Allen with Hitachi HU11A operating at 75kV. Neg. 37,750X. Published and adapted with permission from J. Cell Biol. 56:559-579, 1973. The raw negative was scanned with an Epson Perfection V750 Pro and this high resolution image is best used for quantitative analysis. Technical Details

Standard glutaraldehyde fixation followed by osmium tetroxide, dehydrated in alcohol and embedded in an epoxy resin. Microtome sections prepared at approximately 75nm thickness. Additional information available at (http://www5.pbrc.hawaii.edu/allen/).
