Description

In a cell treated with trifluoperizine (TFP), all stages of endocytosis and movement to the early endosomes and out of the early endosomes can be found. These steps begin at the parasomal sac and ending with an uncoated carrier vesicles ready to pass into the cell’s interior. This micrograph is of the oral region. TEM taken on 10/9/87 by R. Allen with Zeiss 10A operating at 80kV. Neg. 19,800X. Bar = 0.25µm. Adapted with permission from Fig. 15 published in J. Cell Sci. 101:449-461, 1992. The negative was printed to paper and the image was scanned to Photoshop. This digitized image is available for qualitative analysis. An unprocessed, high resolution version of this image (CIL:12616) is in the library and available for quantitative analysis. Following trifluoperizine (TFP) treatment, standard glutaraldehyde fixation followed by osmium tetroxide, dehydrated in alcohol and embedded in an epoxy resin.
