Description

The DNA replication band in macronucleus of Halteria. Like hypotrichs the macronucleus of this oligotrich has a DNA replication band where DNA is synthesized. The nucleolus is evident. TEM taken on 3/9/71 by R. Allen with Hitachi HU11A operating at 75kV. Neg. 13,750X. Bar = 0.5µm. A print of the negative was scanned and processed in Photoshop. This image is best used for qualitative analysis. A high resolution image (CIL:7601) is available for quantitative analysis. Standard glutaraldehyde fixation followed by osmium tetroxide, dehydrated in alcohol and embedded in an epoxy resin. Microtome sections prepared at approximately 75nm thickness.
